WILLIAM CHARLES FORD

William Charles Ford was born in Barrie Ont. in May 1954, the son of Captain (Retire) William G Ford & Mrs Audrey Ford. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1972 as an Infantryman and following the completion of basic training at Cornwallis NS he was posted to CFB Gagetown NB Combat Training Centre for Basic Infantry Training.

Following the completion of training he was posted CFB Gagetown NB, served with the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment "H" Company as a Rifleman. As a member of the Battalion he volunteered for Peacekeeping duties in Cyprus (OPs Snowgoose) with the United Nations in 1973.
During this tour he conducted observer post duty’s security operations & signalman duties with "City Company". While serving in Cyprus he was singled out along with other members of his Regiment to represent his unit and Canada in the Danish Army's Annual Combat Efficiency Competition, the Team Members were awarded the Danish Army's Combat Efficiency Award for Excellence.
