I guess I will start with the beginning: what people notice first about me. People often say very shortly after meeting me that I am funny and friendly. Next people often comment that I am smart. Most recently, the guy sitting next to me at “Trivia Night” said, in a typical Arizona patois, “You’ve got a wicked brain, bro.” Sadly, despite my “wicked” brain, I didn’t win.

I am down to earth and feel more at home in a pool hall than a fancy restaurant (though I do know a red wine glass from a white wine glass, and where the dessert fork goes). I like fairly simple things like watching movies, exploring the desert and mountain forests, off-roading, reading, playing pool (badly), bowling (not as badly), dining out, long conversations, walking around interesting urban areas, and other such things. I really enjoy exploring new places whether it is via road-trips or vacations of a farther away nature. I love learning about new cultures and languages and immersing myself in them for a while. I love, perhaps more than anything else, floating in the ocean and staring at the sky.

I am a computer-consultant and part-time artist. I do a lot of photography, music recording and poetry. The first makes me my money; the latter three make me who I am. My work used to be very important to me, at one time even money was. I realize now how trivial and empty those things are without someone special in your life. Money can be the power to help people, to do things, and to guide your life in directions that interest you: but it is merely a tool and not an end. Work can be very fulfilling, but I realize that I let it keep me away from even more fulfilling things: being with loved ones, dreaming, doing the things that make life worth living.

I feel sort of odd, talking about myself so much…but it is a personal ad, so bear with me.

I have created a lot of artwork and music, made a few real friends, worked on some interesting projects and learned a lot about myself.

I am loathe to say too much about what I want out of a person in recognition of that fact that we often meet someone who is quite different from that which we thought we wanted, and yet is exactly what we want. Therefore, I will stick to the basics. I am a very affectionate person, and need someone who is also affectionate. You don’t have to have a PhD in Quantum Mechanics (I don’t!) but it would be wonderful to have long intelligent conversations with someone. You must have, or at least appreciate a somewhat odd (and even unfathomable) sense of humor (or be really good at humoring me). I truly need someone who is upbeat, optimistic and supportive. I love to pamper and nurture people and love those things in return. I know it is also important that we share certain core values, but I think that is something you discover as you get to know someone better. Most importantly, I am seeking someone with whom I can form a true friendship. I think if you have a true friendship, and mutual attraction, all else follows.
