I'm a guy nearing forty, in pretty good shape for my age.  I can appear distant, quiet, a bit stand-offish on the outside before I get to know people but I'm very outgoing once I do.  I enjoy being able to have good, comfortable conversation with people, and I'm very faithful to my friends once trust has been established.  I imagine I can come across as being arrogant or pretentious; I'm a smart person who has many interests, and my being a teacher sometimes comes out.  I can have fun in all kinds of situations: going out, reading, listening to music, watching films on video, writing, stargazing.  I enjoy running but frankly got out of the habit due to my work schedule this year.People who would find me interesting: those not easily intimidated, honest to the point of bluntness, those who like artistic temperaments.  I like to be honest and my face will show the truth in any situation. 

I've beaten cancer twice and that has really changed my outlook on life.  I don't have time for people who will waste my time, but really enjoy the company of good friends.  I love teaching, real teaching, and helping out young people.  I write film, video, and music reviews for a local paper and love spending time listening to good stereo equipment and music.  I volunteer for several local charities and community service organizations and enjoy making my contribution to the community.
