So you hate clever headlines too,
huh?
I've never played football.
I've never been invited to a
prom. I don't know what the
difference
between the
Yankees and
the Red Sox is. In
other
words, I didn't grow up here. I do love
this country
and its people
(well, at
least those who
don't support
G.W.), but the truth is I'm
from Brazil.
Therefore, I tend to be LOUD,
extroverted, and I might
not know exactly how to
be discreet or
politically correct (though my
American friends seem to enjoy
when I say things they
wouldn't normally say).
Depending on
the season, I go to the
gym or swim a few times a
week. I
love salsa
dancing, and I used to be a
very active
guitar
player, though I've
slowed down on
that recently. Oh, I
also suck at
writing
descriptions of
myself, in
case you haven't
noticed.
OK, work (read: science) has
been very important in
many
ways for my life, so it was my primary focus for many years.
I've gotten very far
very fast,
getting a
position right out of
graduate school
that most
people only get
several years
after their PhD. I'm happy where I am, so I
don't need as much
ambition. My life for the
last 6 months or so has therefore been all
about balance; I try to
spend more time caring about
my health, which means I've
been working out
frequently,
learning new recipes and
cooking away, etc. Also,
although I can't brag much
about this as I
think
it's mostly luck,
I am
really proud of all the
friends
I've made while in
graduate
school in the US, both at
Dartmouth and at Brown; they're
the most amazing
people
I've ever met.
I've just moved to DC from
graduate school in Rhode
Island,
leaving many
great
friends
back
there, so
I am
looking
for
equally
awesome
people
who
enjoy hanging
out
for no
reason
other
than
having a
good time,
i.e. laughing,
dancing,
drinking,
singing,
etc,
and who
also
appreciate
occasional
(pseu do-)intellectua l
discussions.
So,
that's
where
you
come in: we
hang
out,
see what the
'chemistry'
is like, and at worst
we'll
have a new friend. At
best... well, let's
just say
I've
been
through quite
a bit,
so
if
it feels
right, I
think
I'm
ready
for you :)
