Recently, I came out--totally.  It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!!!  For year's I've lived in fear that I'd lose family & friends--I do love them all so much!  However, personal happiness must prevail.  Absolutely no one "threw me to the curb," and I am quite blessed to have so many people who love me unconditionally!
Most people would call me an "old soul."  I've had a hard time identifying with some aspects of Gay culture as I am very much a person of commitment and have too much self-respect to allow my emotions to be trampled by random hook-ups.  My friends call me "baby gay" because I've never been in a relationship!  Perhaps this is a bit too forth-coming for a profile, but I fully believe complete honesty is always best!
I currently teach high school American Sign Language.  I love working with the kids.  It's such a rewarding feeling to develop a rapport with a student and know that the knowlege & wisdom inside yourself has touched a life forever!  What an amazing legacy to leave behind to future generations!  I've always been a strong supporter of education as I love to learn, and believe me, I'm getting an education too!!!
In addition to teaching, I sponsor three extra-curricular clubs:  Student Government, ASL, & the newly-formed (by me) Gay-Straight Alliance.  Similar activites made my own high school experience worthwhile, and it's my way of giving back.
Actually, my interests are quite diverse & I often feel as if I don't have enough time to pursue all the things I love!  Over the past year I've recognized the need for me to maintain a more-balanced life.  Therefore, I'm working less, making more time for friends and family, and most importantly making time for myself.  I exercise 4-5 times/week & have hired a personal trainer to help me meet my fitness goals.  It's a bit of a stretch on a teacher's salary, but I don't think I'll regret the decision when it is time to go to the beach next summer!<

For years I supressed my sexuality by focusing on academics.  I have a BA in Psycholgy & Communications, Master's Degree in Business Administration, and I'm certified to teach in four areas: Social Sciences, Special Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and obviously, American Sign Language. 
Eventually, I do plan to become a nationally-certified interpreter, but right now I'm trying not to over-extend myself.  I was recently selected to present a workshop at a national teacher's conference on reading & writing strategies I have introduced in my ASL classroom.
I do get asked to sing at school functions quite a bit.  I typically do the National Anthem at the Homecoming football game as well as songs at the annual Christmas party & school beauty pagent.  I guess that would be considered an "accomplishment" as it constantly stretches me as a person & keeps me out of my "comfort zone."

Honestly, I want to be with someone who can love me for me.  I think it is important to be with someone who will constantly challenge me to be a better person, but also have mercy on me when I make mistakes.  I need someone who will be there during the bad times as well as the good times.  In essence, I need someone with whom I can share a common bond of love and commitment. I want to fall in love with my best friend!  I believe that friendship is the cornerstone of any great relationship.  Physical apperance & sex are not enough to sustain a long-term relationship.  With time, looks fade!  It is more important for me to be with someone who I can encourage & support and vice versa.
