I am a person who, I'd like to think, accepts people for who they are and not what I want them to be.  I think of myself as being "self aware" in that I know who I am and care about the world around me.  I don't care for mind games and the unneeded self absorbed drama that brings. I am happy in a forest, in the mountains with nothing but the sounds that are not of the man made world.  I’m also happy in a crowd and enjoy meeting people.  I’m a politically active person and not afraid to fight passionately for those issues I believe in.  My mother, goddess rest her sole, taught me that by her actions in fighting for equal rights.  I enjoy entertaining; having parties, and have been told on more than one occasion that I am the good southern hostess with the manners to go along with it.  I believe that you have to be the change you wish to see in the world and you will catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
I enjoy wearing high heels and lipstick for a night on the town.  However, don’t take that as the “whole” person because you can also find me in the grungy clothes with my power tools.  Yes, ladies, I have roofed and built more than one house!  I work in the world of men that don’t take me seriously; that I might possibly know more about construction/city planning than they do!  Hillary Clinton said something about that glass ceiling – I bump my head on it everyday.p

I am an accomplished Geographic Information Specialist, streamlining many government tasks to reduce duplication of effort.  (Yep, I'm a computer geek) I have worked on urban revitalization and rural preservation plans that have won national awards.  I am the vice chairperson of the local LGBT community action group.  I worked at the state and local level at getting sexual orientation and gender identity included as a protected class in Iowa.  Currently I am campaigning for the Democratic Party in Iowa.  I am in the process of finishing my basement.  I designed and built the house I am currently living in.  Growing up I took ballet, tap, jazz, voice, & piano.  Still, to this day, I am quite flexable.  I was also on the swim team and am an accomplished swimmer.

I would love to meet a womyn who accepts me for who I am, warts and all.  One who not afraid of my artsy side who might actually like seeing (tolerating?) a ballet or going to the symphony.  I am not a china doll that will break and not afraid to sweat.  It would be nice if she didn't freak out if I'm on a ladder hanging upside down.  I have done and will do many things on my own, though it is nice to have help every now and then.  Loving furry children is a must.  You can't be allergic to cats or dogs.   Like most, I want to meet a womyn that will complete the other half of my soul.  One who can look into my eyes (and I hers) and know what I am thinking.  The one were we can lie in each others arms comfortably in blissful peace.  One who is not afraid to speak her mind, but is respectful of mine.  A womyn who likes passionate love making not afraid of trying new things!  I am at heart, a hopeless romantic and enjoy being swept off my feet – and doing the sweeping.  It depends on the mood and the moment.   Finally, I think of myself as young even though I am in my forties.  I want to be with a womyn who thinks similarly.  Old is not part of my vocabulary.
