I think my ability to savor the moment is what gives me the greatest pleasure in life. My friends and family, good conversation, good food, my dog, my parrot, my nature studies and the opportunities I find to empower others and contribute to their faith sum up what makes me who I am.
I raised a son alone while attending school and working. This took strength, time, energy, endurance, faith and lots of encouragement from friends. I became a librarian and have spent the last ten years in school libraries. I'm about to retire to a place in the country where I can work at the things I most enjoy...taking care of a few animals and taking care of myself.
I've always liked a "man's man." In the past I looked for intellectual qualities, but I've come to appreciate that some of the best "schooling" takes place outside of schools and that intelligence is often not reflected in one's resume. I like a man who is self-sufficient and who enjoys the outdoors--someone who knows how to enjoy wildlife without destroying it by hunting or exploitation...someone who knows how to learn from experience.
