I am passionate about the process of learning in all of its forms and by all means, from the life stories of strangers to technical articles to travel to meditation. I find the process of learning to be continuously enriching and transformative. In this sense, learning is life itself.In my free time I enjoy travel being exposed to different cultures, hiking, canoeing, theatre, listening to jazz, watching films, and trying new things.
I used to be a social anthropologist and did my fieldwork in Sumatra. My graduate studies were in London and I have lived and worked in five Asian countries. I became involved in Japanese Finance in Tokyo and some time ago I authored several books about Japan. I was a consultant for ten years before I began teaching. I have two adult children, a daughter who is 19 and a son who is 21.
I'd like to meet someone who is compassionate, sensitive, and honest. Someone outgoing, who is willing to try new things. I would love to meet someone liberal and creative who enjoys debating all sorts of issues. Somone laid back and not afriad to be themselves.
