This summer I graduated with my Master of Science in biology and am now working in a laboratory at Harvard Medical. I will further update this profile soon (11/18/08). In mid-August 2005, I moved to Boston which led to my current graduation from University of Massachusetts Boston with a Master of Science in Biology. Next I want to go for a PhD and afterward I want to work in an academic research institution rather than a commercial organisation, i.e. pharmaceutical company, because in academic institutions experiments are done to better the knowledge and understanding in science, whereas commercial organisations focus more on the aspects of science that will make a profit. Part of that last sentence was taken from my résumé :-). Before grad school, I moved to Washington, DC and worked at The George Washington University doing HIV research. This is not the actual field in biology I want to focus on as a life time goal. My actual interest is developmental biology. My Bachelor of Science degree is from the University of North Florida where I majored in biology and minored in Psychology. I am an animal lover. I have a cat and 7 cockatiels.
I am highly interested in the culinary arts and do enjoy cooking. Before I went for my Bachelor's I almost went to culinary school. In HS, I was awarded a culinary school scholarship during a competition, but I realized, however, that, for me, cooking is more of a hobby then a career choice. I was a novice bird breeder when I was in middle school and early HS and again for about two years in 2006-2007. I used the hatchlings as apart of a developmental biology project (100% humane). From day 1 through day 42 post-hatch, chicks were placed on graph paper and photographed. The resulting photographs were adjusted by using the graph paper to set the scale and placed on a poster sequentially to visualize their daily growth rates.
As for the relationship side, I have not had many long term relationships. When I was younger it was because most guys I have met were either to into sex without the prospect of a relationship or were not my ideal guy. However, as I have gotten older, it is because I am not the best with knowing HOW to meet people (friends or more). Those I befriend cannot understand this social inadequacy because they say that I am a very sociable guy. My social side pops out AFTER someone else breaks the ice (friends or more). I am looking for a man that respects relationships. He does not have to be the best looking guy but he has to be nice, caring and compassionate. I feel that looks are not everything but attraction is important. In the romantic/dating sense, I like to take moonlit walks on the beach, candle light dinners, talk, cuddle, just be with each other. I am looking for a potential Life mate. I do not want to move fast though. I have had some guys “fall in love” with me after the second date. To me, that cannot be love, but actually the poor guys have longed for attention and intimacy, which I can totally empathize, and when a guy (me) that was interested in that showed them the attention, they mistakenly turned longing into love. I am just glad that I can see differences, but I am by no means an expert in love. I do want someone that is willing to be himself and yet still be willing to compromise; not hold his feelings inside, but tell me what is bothering him, even if I am the reason. If he cannot tell me what I did wrong, even a small thing, it will fester over time and I cannot change something if I do not know it needs to be changed. And he can handle me, as I, unfortunately, can be a tad messy. :-P
