I am a passionate, compassionate, loving man who has fallen many times, yet I keep getting up and trying again to find someone who is willing to apply themselves to something more than temporary.  I'm not looking for a fling or a one-night stand.  I do understand, however, that I will likely try many women before I find the right one, but when I find her, I will look no more.  I am a romantic, I can be trusting & free with my heart until I am hurt.  I am also a very physical man--in terms of affection and sexual appetite.  I need more than physical attraction in a relationship though.  I need to be intellectually stimulated and connected as well.  I like culture and taste, but I'm not obsessed with material possession or current fashion and fads.  I like fine dining, dinner theatre, organic fair-trade coffee, live music, museums, comedy shows, micro brewed & imported beer, long scenic walks, cuddling up to a movie, playing under the sheets until noon, road trips, and greeting my partner every time I see her like we've been apart for weeks.  I like doing for my partner, whether helping out with some task or project, or making her birthday a special occasion, flowers for no reason, etc.  That's just my style in a relationship, it doesn't mean I'm trying to buy her loyalty or affection, it's just part of my showing of affection.

I'm a college grad, I served 15 years in the Army National Guard, served on humanitarian relief after two hurricanes and two winter storms in NC, served a tour in Afghanistan, served in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, then promptly left the military immediately thereafter as a matter of integrity and personal protest. 

Since I am an affectionate, intelligent, romantic, sexual person, I require a woman who is both emotionally and physically available. That means if you are still pining over a past lover or are already attached to a boyfriend or husband, please move on. I'm looking for a woman who's truly open to the prospect of a relationship. That doesn't mean I intend to jump right into one, but there should at least be the opportunity of a relationship before investing the time, effort and emotional vulnerability it takes to get to know someone and let them get to know you. All that being said, I should tell you that physical attraction is very important to me. Now that doesn't mean that you have to be a model. However, I need someone who can retain my attention and keep my levels of desire high. While I appreciate a soft, curvy figure, I'm not into large or "heavy" women.  Big and Beautiful is great for some, but not me.  Otherwise, I'm not that picky about things like hair and eye color or ethnicity.  As far as religion is concerned, I'm open minded and tolerant, to an extent.  I allow anyone to believe what they want, just don't try to force it on me.  I believe our beliefs are just that--ours.  Therefore, I can't agree with the concept of institutionalized religion.  Anytime someone else formulates a belief and uses threats and promises to encourage our acceptance of that belief they violate your freedom and disregard the intellect bestowed upon you by your Creator, who/whatever you believe that to be.
