What am I really like? I love writing. Committing thoughts to paper is a necessary part of my thinking processes. A favourite author of mine said, "A thought is not complete until it's written down." I get far too much enjoyment out of browsing used bookshops hunting for old books, peeking under the cover to see if they will make good reading material and surreptitiously sniffing them for that "old book smell." Shoes. If I could marry them, I so would. It is my feminine weakness. I am predisposed to love them! I am quite game to try anything new, different and exciting. Some of the varied things I have done thus far: modeling, bridge jumping, free-lance writing and barrel racing. Things I want to do? Ski, write a book, scuba dive, swing dance, live in the South, drive a race car and eat octopus. I think it's important to always be developing my mind and skills. Having goals and achieving is important--but not letting life pass you by while getting there, is equally important. I am quite close with my family. Families can be dysfunctional, chaotic and irritating. But they are just that. Your family. It is important to love them, not in spite of them, but because of them.
Frankly. At the moment, I spend most of my time working. I wouldn't call myself a workaholic, because it isn't necessarily a choice for me to work long hours. It is simply required. However, in the long run, it will be worth it. I will be able to work shorter hours and have more time for that which I truly enjoy. I adore cooking. However, I have a nasty habit of cooking too much. I cook much better for a crowd then a family of four. I was also a tri-state finialist in a cooking contest. Playing the piano. While I am not nearly as good as I used to be, I still enjoy it in my free time. I used to compete in our statewide competition. The last time I did, I finished one point away from third. ONE POINT! Just thinking about it brings out my overly-competitive streak again. Writing. Paticularly satrical humorous writing. Whether it's long emails, blog posts or business memo's, I enjoy trying to make them interesting, entertaining and informative. Spending time with children. I amazes me the impact you can have in a child's life by just spending a few hours with them. I recieved the Presidential Community Service Award a year ago. But most of all, I dearly love my nephew. A precocious seven year old who has, as most young children do, a knack for telling it like it is. If he can grow up knowing he has the love of his Auntie, that will be one of my greatest accomplishments.
For whom am I looking? I don't have a highly selective bulleted list, but there is a general concept I am seeking. Hands down, sense of humour is a must. Someone who will laugh WITH me, not AT me. There is nothing worse than telling a story, only to finish it in awkward silence--then tacking on a quick "It was funny. Please laugh!" A leader. he must have a strong, dynamic personality that engenders cooperation. I appreciate a visionary and have had enough of this aimless wandering business! I do have a strong personality, but when I meet someone who is a leader I respect, I am more than happy to follow accordingly. I tend to connect more with people who enjoy doing random, ridiculous things and can have fun whether planned or spontaneous. At the same time, someone who is not only only appropriate, but comfortable in business, social and formal functions. I respect someone who enjoys reading more than watching television and to whom I do not have to explain words. Ideally, he enjoys his family as much as I enjoy mine, regardless of how unique and dysfunctional they may be. This is less tangible, but I think it's important that he understands the impact a nuclear family unit can have on society.
