I'm an eternal optimist. I've lived around all levels of society, all types of people, and I have yet to find one person who, either by their words or their actions doesn't indicate that they w a n t t o c o n t r i b u t e. So that's kind of my proof that good will trump evil every time, given the chance. I've dedicated myself to improving the lives of people by improving our surroundings, and want to continue to do that as long as I am able. That's pretty much my driver.

I'm eager to build on others' wisdom and accomplishments, hence am an avid consumer of others' ideas and perspectives (via books, movies, CSPAN), and always looking for paths to consensus. Although I haven't had much time to be fully immersed in politics, I have dabbled and helped, and may do more if necessary.

On a personal level, I love to design and build things; I love living around and in water, love cooking and entertaining and people. I have some incredible friends and family who energize me beyond belief. I also can be a pretty good hermit. I get my kicks on a pair of skis, skates, or rollerblades, or biking, sailing, et al. Although I love being at home, I've never ever regretted a single trip I've taken. They are always so enriching; sometimes extremely important, as it turns out. During long soaks in the tub is when I do some of my best reading and thinking.
