As you might guess from my ID, I'm a teacher. I move around between middle and high school math classes. I love what I do and cannot imagine myself doing anything else even with all the problems that public schools are facing right now. I am family oriented; they have always been my support through the tough times. I hope I have taught my own children to support each other in the same way. I have learned to be assertive but do not have a hard time stepping aside when someone else wants to take the lead; if I disagree with something I have no problem letting it be known. I think most of my friends find me to be dependable, trustworthy, reliable and, for the most part, diplomatic (usually try to be tactful but...). I am a caring, optimistic soul that looks forward to seeing things improve in this world no matter how minor the improvement. And I still enjoy being a bit of a child on occasion. I have enjoyed hiking and camping although I haven't been in years. I am a walker, having started the habit about four years ago with a friend and I find I enjoy the company as well as the exercise. I find that after ten years, I'm looking for something more in my life; something new and different. Maybe you're it.
I have sponsored cheerleaders and Academic Decathlon and Student Council in school as well as being class sponsor from the freshman class up to senior class. I have served as president for our local education association for four years and am the treasurer for the regional association. I am the chairman of the board of directors for our school credit union and recently became a trainer for a teacher mentoring program. I am on the local bargaining committee for our education association and as such have no problem talking with all groups of people from our superintendent and school board all the way down to our non-certified employees such as our custodians, bus drivers and cafeteria workers(who in my opinion are much more important). Most people feel like they can come to me for advice and know that if I don't feel qualified to help them I can find them the help they need. Every once in a while though, I need someone I can go to for a friendly word.
I was told at one time what I want is an all-American Boy Scout next door (or a really good dog). I want someone who is honest, loyal, faithful, dependable and punctual(tardiness really gets to me). I want someone who has a great sense of humor and enjoys children of all ages (up to and including 55). I want someone who is not afraid of letting me be in charge in some cases but is not afraid of stepping and taking charge when he feels like he needs to (and there will be those times). I want an arm to lean on or just a hand to hold or a shoulder to cry on in the really serious times. I want an adult who isn't afraid to let his boyish nature show through on occasion. Know someone like that?
