I'm a self-motivator. I've attended 5 colleges in my life (graduated from two) so continuing education and self-improvement are important to me. I like the Ocean...Bachelor's in Marine Biology...and enjoy socialising with (and being a positive influence on) people...hence the Nursing degree. I do not like constant whiners. This is something that turns my stomach. I do have a tendency to politely listen to people if they feel the need to vent. However, I've been known to be 'brutally' honest with my opinions.Things that are important to me are: honesty, integrity, self-sufficiency, health maintenance (in mind and body because, after all, isn't this the only mind and body we've got at the moment?), traditional values {but not too traditional}, forthrightness, intelligence, trustworthiness ...I could go on and on and on but, hopefully, you're starting to get the picture. I like to travel, see new places, meet new people, and don't like being self-absorbed. Let's see, accomplishments...I LOVE to brag. I graduated from High School with a bonafide High School Diploma in only 4 years. I was in school when the Teachers still smacked the students with a paddle for gettin' out of line. So you can see that I've been out of High School for a long time. I immediately went to College after High School and majored in Marine Biology with a Minor in Chemistry. I didn't get stellar grades but I stuck with my decision and graduated with a Baccalaureate of Sciences. I stocked supermarket shelves for a year before I decided to join the Navy. I was stationed for 3 years on the USS Eisenhower..it's a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. I was an electrician on this ship. My duties were to repair, maintain and troubleshoot equipment used to launch and recover jet aircraft. When the sh*t hit the fan, it HIT the fan. In other words, if anything broke in the middle of a launch or recovery we had to grab our stuff, be Johnny-on-the-spot, and get it fixed NOW . I rotated out of the Navy in 1989 and immediately secured a job with the Washington, D.C. subway system as a trackside electrician. I had this job for about 2 years when I decided to pursue a career in nursing.   I started taking nursing courses in 1993 at Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Maryland. I moved from the Washington, D.C. area back to Texas in 1995 and, having not finished the nursing program, applied and was accepted into the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Texas, Austin. I wasn't in the right frame of mind [emotionally or financially] to commit to this undertaking so I found myself moving to Las Vegas, NV where there was another, more stable, support network. I applied to the Community College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas and finished my Associate's in Nursing there. Since then, I've worked in several venues of nursing: hospital floor

This is the hard part. I've had the tendency in the past to gravitate towards "soul-mates" who are not healthy for me. I put soul-mates in quotes because, obviously, I haven't yet found my true soul-mate. I'm looking for someone with some of these traits: attractiveness, honesty, integrity, laid-back, open-mindedness, active, self-assured, articulate, intelligent, self-motivated, mature, polite, caring, unselfish, strong (but not to the point of pushiness). In short, I'm looking for a mate with a healthy self-esteem [isn't everybody?]. Things that would make us compatible are: friendliness, not too possessive, openness, earthiness, healthy lifestyle. I've lived almost 45 years so I'm pretty sure by now what I'm looking for. If my mate has kids, fine; but loud, disrespectful, lazy, angry, manipulative children are a major turn-off and I definitely wouldn't be around for very long if these types of children were part of the package. I'm looking for someone who will be good to me and is good for me ;)
