who can it be knocking at my door?
I'm a fun , outgoing, affectionate and warm smiley type with an exuberant personality. Vivacious, I speak up. I ask questions. I get involved. Community and communication are very important to me. I'm an integrator of sorts. In my professional life, I get paid to come up with innovative strategies to reach out to homebound elderly and bridge them to available services. Often this involves intergenerational and interorganizational neighborhood planning. I love people, especially older, wiser and spiritual folk, but like many Bronx cats, I have a low BS tolerance. Clowning around with friends is one thing, that I love. Silliness turn me on. But the BS I refer to , here, is the absence of policies and programs designed to (realistically) protect the rights of vulnerable populations. So this lead me to becoming an advocate, a social worker and activist with lofty goals. I feel blessed in my relentless commitment toward realizing them. I see a lot getting done, but I'm never satisfied. I realize this is a problem. I dream a lot, too, and fantasize about better days...like when we may see universal healthcare coverage, the return of Linda Carter as Wonder Woman to channel 9, I can play the piano with my eyes closed and then open them to find there's a P-town in every city, every state! oh yeah! :) I'm an old fashioned, romantic dyke who enjoys the simple things in life. Wining and dining a beautiful girl, dancing freely til the sun comes up, hiking, biking and kayaking adventures upstate NY, sculpture gardens and exploring historical villages are some of the things I love to do. Wherever I am, I enjoy reflecting on the history of the place. So if that kind of talk puts you to sleep, if documentaries, independent films and ethnographies make you snooze.. I'll probably bore the crap out of you! haha. I'm most alive in social situations, but I love my quiet solitude. I'm very independent, have lived alone for quite some time. I know where my head is at, where
My recent travel has been limited to the east coast, the Cape when I can, and Israel to visit family. I'm focussed, instead, on completing my masters in social work and then applying to Phd programs in sociology. Looks like I'll be staying in the city for that as well. So if it's a world travel companion, i'm probably not the chick for you. At least not yet, anyway. ;)
Because I work very hard to be the change I seek, I'm looking for a light hearted gal to shoot the breeze with. Someone funny, easy going and kind. I believe we each have a gift to share with this world and eachother. So I'd love to meet someone equally energetic, outgoing and free. Being shy just gets in the way of all the magic, all the learning and all the creative fun!
