I am a high school teacher, so I have to have a touch of insanity running through me. I am a math teacher, so that proves that it is more than a touch. So with most of my free time I like to do things with adults and intelligent conversation. I am originally from Cincinnati, but I went to high school in Connecticut and college in Philly. And for some reason, I returned to Cincinnati...go figure. I have a good sense of humor and am very true to my friends and family. I also am fine just spending time with myself reading a good (or sometimes bad) book.
Translation: Although you would never guess from looking at me, I can be a nerd. Albeit a cute one, but a nerd nonetheless. On a side note: There is never the right category for my hair. It is black, but I have dreads. They are well kept, not the nasty matted ones that you sometimes see out there. I am a teacher remember, so I have to look professional at least 9 months out of the year. The summer is a whole different ball game.
I am a very successful teacher. I have the ability to connect with my students and move them from a hatred of math to where they are willing to try and enjoy coming to my class. I am visible in our school district and work hard to make sure that inner-city kids are getting the same if not better than kids at some of the fancier schools in the suburbs. I was drum major of marching band in college for two years, so I am used to being in front of thousands of people and am able to present myself well. I was the first person to hold this position for two years since the 1970s and then only the second black drum major in school history. I learned how to swing in high school and am looking for excuses to get on a dance floor when I can, but there are times that sitting back and watching is as if not more fun that actually being out there.
I am looking for someone who loves to laugh and is not afraid to cry. Someone who is willing sit and talk about what is going on in the world, or just sit together. I am not going to say that looks don't matter, but they are not the driving force in my eye. A good personality, a good heart, and a good smile come first. It wouldn't hurt if you could help me with my backhand on the tennis courts either.
