I'm very upbeat - no gloom and doom here.  A positive outlook on life, don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff. I'm not interested in possessions, things that are here today and gone tomorrow.  What is most important is people, who they are inside not the exterior packaging.  I'm not afraid to work, get dirty, in activities with the guys such as working on a sailboat. I can as easily dress up in a gown, be totally at ease with those who have money and fame and dress casually fitting easily with those who have little or nothing.  God comes first in my life - it's not religion, it's a way of life.  I love to laugh, even at myself. Honesty is important to me, I do not lie and I do warn people that if they don't want to hear the truth, don't ask the question (it's not done in a rude way).  I have a lot of old fashioned values.  I'm interested in a wide variety of things from flying, sailing to reading, writing, knitting, sewing, baking, creating new things.  Sensitive to others emotions, desires and listen to what they communicate verbally and non-verbally.  I enjoy making others smile, doing the unexpected.  I don't play games with other people's emotions.   

I have a private pilot's license although I haven't flown in a long time.  I have sailed in Europe, the Bahamas, and the southern part of the east coast.  I have learned how to paint in oils, did a number of paintings but stopped when my life became too busy with travel, moving and other things.  I have tendency to not work slowly up to a skill level in a new medium but will learn the basics and tackle something more complex than most would ever attempt to do.  After 12 years in the business world, I went to college to become a RN a profession that I enjoy.  I considered becoming a doctor yet discovered that the ability to help people in the most ffulfilling way would be lost in the transition.  I learned to fix and take care of a 37' pilothouse ketch which was my home by assisting the repairmen I paid to fix problems the first time.  I'm physically very flexible which comes in handy when you have to work in small, odd shaped places.  I've dealt with legal issues on a business and personal level and learned enough about how the system works that I have been mistaken for an attorney by my correspondence when I am fighting a legal battle.  I write poetry for my own pleasure.  

Someone who respects himself, takes care of his body, knows how to listen, doesn't think he has all the answers and is open to considering things from a different view.  A man who can share emotionally the good, the bad, and the it's okay norm.  A wide range of interests, a curiosity about what is around him, open to trying something new, something different.  Sense of humour is important.  Laughter keeps us sane and is good for the body and soul.  Treats others the way he would like to be be treated.    Has God in his life.
