I'm a pretty quirky guy who is a bit shy at first, but who can end up gabbing your ear off if the chemistry is there. I'm also very affectionate with kind of a dry, sometimes sarcastic and/or dirty, sense of humor. I try to be very open with my thoughts and feelings, as I've gotten in trouble by burying this stuff in the past.

I work as a faculty member at one of the local universities. It's a pretty cool job in that I face different challenges pretty much all the time, so it really never gets boring. The students are also really fun... most of the time. Probably the greatest thing about the job is that outside of my teaching responsibilities, I'm pretty free to set my own schedule. This isn't to say that I don't work hard because I definitely do put my hours in, but I can spread those hours out as I see fit (late nights, early mornings, work from home, coffee shops, etc.).

As for hobbies and interests outside of work... I've become really interested in cooking over the last few years. I certainly won't be showing up on Food Network in the near future, but I think I can hold my own. My go-to recipe when I’m trying to impress someone is a kick ass chicken parm, but I make a tasty chicken florentine as well. I'm also a big tennis fan, although I haven't been able to find a steady hitting partner in the area yet. I'm not a tennis pro by any means. I'm pretty crappy in fact, but it's good exercise and I enjoy it. On a related note, I just got my certification to teach indoor cycling. Getting certified was a process that really took me out of my comfort zone, but I think it’s good to push yourself sometimes. My other two big hobbies are aviation and cows. I'm just really interested in planes, which is interesting given that I'm afraid to fly. It doesn’t stop me from traveling, but I won’t say I enjoy turbulence. As for the cow thing, well I just really can't explain it. I just think they're cool animals. It’s one of my quirks. ?

I'm really just looking to meet some new people. If there turns out to be some romantic chemistry there, that's fantastic. If it turns out that romance isn't in the air but we can be friends, that's also great and I'd like to go with it. I'm hoping to find that our personalities and hobbies complement each other, but I'm certainly open to meeting someone who's very different and who can teach me some new stuff and share experiences with me that I'd otherwise not have. In short, there's not a set kind of person that I'm after, either physically or in terms of personality/interests. I guess the few traits I'd really insist on would be that you're open/honest with me about your feelings and that you're loyal. I'll admit that I have a real soft spot for romantics, blue eyes, and for guys who can make me laugh, but please don't see these things as requirements by any means. As I said, I'm open to all types of guys. I won't miss out on opportunities because someone doesn't fit into a mold. I guess it would be a good idea to say something about what I'm NOT looking for as well. I'm not after any kind of hook-up or one-night stand. In fact, we probably won’t have sex for at least the first few times we meet. A kiss to end a first date would be fantastic, but I don’t want the relationship to be built around the physical side of things. I also don't want to get into a situation where someone is trying to rebound from another relationship. I understand that we all have baggage, and I'm willing to be someone's friend while they deal with that baggage, but that's where it would end, at least until they've dealt with their leftover issues.
