My background is extremely

varied: I've worked in the

performing arts area all of my

life, which may seem odd
since I look more like a truck
driver than any kind of a diva,
but that's my Nebraska farmboy
upbringing; lived almost
everywhere in
the USA; now
teaching at a
college in East
Texas, been here
eighteen
years. l've been gay
all my
life. Never had a big
problem
with it, just accepted
it and
got on with living the
best
way I knew how. I don't

advertise it, but neither do
I
hide it.

My
first great love
happened
when I was 33, and just
about
to leave the Midwest,
where
I was born and raised, and

move to New York. He was the

first person I ever saw more

than once, the first person
to
ever spend the night, the

first person to tap into my
heart
and soul. I moved;
he
didn't; I spent a year
crying over
it. He later moved
West and
took a partner.
We're still
friends, but
that's where it ends
now.

But
I thank him with
all my
heart, because he
changed my
life. Finally, I was
open to
others, and a few years

later I found my first true

partner. We spent twenty-five

great years together. Shared a

home, laughed together, had

our share of fights,
traveled
all over the world,
exploring
whatever came our way.
And I
wouldn't have missed
it for the
world.
Unfortunately, he
died one year ago
after a long
illness. It's
been a rough
year, but now,
slowly, I'm ready
to go
exploring again,
hopefully with
someone new.

I don't brag, I just do. I
don't wear
a suit, even in the
classroom. I'm much more
comfortable in jeans and a
T-shirt.

What am I looking for? Someone who is as interested in exploring life as I am. Someone who is nonjudgmental, who is willing to share his own interests with me and is willing to share mine. I love a good laugh and a good night out, but I'm also more than willing to spend an evening sitting around in my underwear watching TV and playing fetch with the dog. And waiting to see what else might come up. I'm healthy, don't smoke, drink moderately. I'm a pretty good cook, but it's a helluva more fun when I've got help. EVERYthing's a lot more fun when you've got help! I'm far less intersted in the outward looks than the person that's hiding inside. As I've grown older, I've come to realize that it's the whole person that matters in the long run.
