Well, I'm not really sure how to sum myself up in a few paragraphs, but here goes nothing. I'm about to start my ...r year in college as a vocal music major. My passion is obviously singing; I'm a big choir nerd (made TMEA All-State my senior year). I also love to read, draw, and write poetry if and when inspired. I listen to a huge variety of music, and I'm open to any kind of music you can throw at me, if it's halfway decent (maybe not polka or horrible rap music), and I could probably show you some music you haven't heard of too.
I read a lot of non-fiction stuff, I love theology (stuff like C.S. Lewis and John Eldredge), psychology, philosophy, funny books like the Dilbert series, Dave Barry, Dennis Miller, etc. I also love to watch movies (I have a lot of useless trivia stored in my brain), swim, ride my bike, take a walk around our pretty little lake here in town, work out occasionally, etc.
As for my personality...not sure how to sum that up. It's probably a huge mix of things. I can be both shy and outgoing, talkative and quiet, idealistic and cynical, funny and serious, sweet and sarcastic, logical and emotional, indoorsy and outdoorsy, girly and tomboyish, practical and romantic, smart and ditzy, depending on the day and who I'm talking to. Most people would say I'm pretty easy to talk to, and I do love good conversations, especially the deep ones, but I am fairly shy at first until you get to know me. I can do small talk, but I strongly value honesty and like to get to the heart of things (though sometimes I should probably pace myself). I really love long, tight hugs, I'm pretty affectionate (although I don't like vulgar amounts of PDA), I love my family, my close friends, my dogs Bif and Chloe (I love dogs, as well as horses, birds, and animals in general). My favorite color is red, I like long walks on the beach, blah blah blah..... :-)
I'm not completely sure about the soul mate business yet. I'm aware that you guys have flaws, it won't be like the movies, and I've learned from experience that you won't always know the perfect words to say at the perfect time (hopefully that's a relief to guys who are vexed by unreasonable expectations). But I can say you'll most likely get brownie points if you send me an actual email with WORDS and show me you're a real person instead of just "winking" at me.
I like a man with a spine, with his own convictions, who's not just a "Yes, dear" kind of guy (in other words, someone who not only "respects" my beliefs/values but is on the same page as me about the important things and will stand for it on his own). Someone who's a man in the real sense of the word, not just the showy, "macho" sense. Someone with a quiet strength, down to earth, that doesn't need to go around picking fights, "scoring chicks", or buying expensive stuff to "prove" his status all the time. Know what I mean? Eh, maybe I'm old-fashioned that way, maybe I'm asking too much. You could be serious or easygoing, I don't really know what "type" clicks with me, it just depends on the person. A good sense of humor and wit is a plus; being able to take a joke and go with the flow of a conversation, maybe even find the humor during a conflict. I'm argumentative enough already for the both of us... jk.
By the way, if you're over 30 (or under 18), DON'T EMAIL ME. I'm all for enlightened thinking, and age is not a huge thing, but good Lord... you're a 55-year old bald guy with kids. I'm a 20-year old college student who's not even close to having a career or squeezing out children yet...you're winking at me? Really?? Anyways...
I don't like when someone thinks that they can "buy" your love, although heartfelt gifts are a nice way to say "I love you". Subtle difference. Things like that shouldn't feel like an obligation. If it's not from the heart, it's meaningless. I don't say "I love you" righ
