Lily Gardener looking for classical
music lover and lifelong learner
I am a devoted teacher of young children at risk for learning to read. They inspire me as much as, I hope, I inspire them. I love to encourage them, and persuade them that they can be successful. I make reading fun through drama, games, and drawing pictures. I make friends by having dinner parties and inviting unusual and interesting people for great conversation.&n bsp;   ; ; ; I was raised in a culturally rich, intellectual and artistic environment in the gorgeous countryside outside of Philadelphia. The Society of Friends (Quakers) influenced my open spiritual thinking and sense of morality and equality in a free, responsible society. I attended private girls’ schools throughout my education, and, while some people call some of these schools “finishing schools,” I was not “finished” in any way. I just got started and I have not stopped! I am not afraid to rattle sabres when necessary or laugh at myself when appropriate. I rejoice in and look for the tiny little miracles that surround us in our seemingly mundane lives. As a very creative person, I will often come up with unusual ways to solve problems -at the risk of being called eccentric. However, I note many people will copy my “crazy” ideas. I am more interested in developing myself into the best person I can be than in competing with others. I shop at Whole Foods and do my best to eat a healthy diet and get plenty of sleep since I am very energetic and enthusiastic throughout the day. Finally, living elegantly is very important to me as it adds peace and tranquillity to my life.
I graduated from one of the top women's colleges in this country. I have a master’s degrees in education and also in developmental psychology. I am deeply interested in cognitive development. I was classical music major in college and I especially love anything by Bach or Handel, as well as Mozart and Handel’s operas, and piano works by Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Schubert, Schumann, and Grieg. I love to read, especially biographies and history books. Collecting good books and music are a passion and I have a large library. I am a life-long-learner and love to watch Nova and other PBS science and educational programs. Finally, as a Virginia Master Gardener, I have designed two notable personal gardens which have been on several public tours.
While I would ultimately like to remarry, I seek first someone with whom I can share common interests and values who would be a friend before being a lover. I do not want to rush into any relationship. In addition, I seek someone who is educationally, culturally, spiritually and economically on a level similar to my own. Good character is very important to me (as I elaborated above). I am developing financial security and seek the same in a mate. I expect to be able to retire comfortably. My mate must like classical music and be a gentleman who can be at ease in both formal (black tie) and informal occasions. I love to go out to nice restaurants. However, I would prefer to prepare a great meal at home and save to splurge on a really fine restaurant than to just eat out. Finally, I would prefer someone within my age range.
