When I was small, my parents
wouldn't tell me where places
were that I heard about on
the
news. They made me look
them
up in the atlas. Now
they
wonder where I got it
into my
head that I should
actually _go_
to all of these
places...
My dog thinks I rock, except
when I give him a bath. Then
I'm not his favorite
person.
Of course, my dog also
thinks the nurses at the
veterinary office rock because they
give him treats and tell him
he's a handsome
boy.
Seriously...BA in Anthropology from the
University of Rochester, MA
in Anthropology from the
University of Virginia, and
now...dun-dun -DAH...all-but- di
ssertated at UVa. I have personally
converted seven students from
idylic dreams of science to
the drama of majoring in
anthropology. The drama! Teaching
anthropology in the States and
spending time with my adopted
community in Thohoyandou
(South Africa) are probably the
two things I am most pleased
about.
I was also a studio art
major in college, so I can
sort of draw and take
photographs and stuff. When I was
eight I made bread for the first
time, and now I can do a
five-course meal for 15. My
pan-roasted trout is pretty
phenomenal, and my mushroom risotto
has convinced non-fungus eaters
that mushrooms 'really are
pretty good...'
This is a tough question for
me as it seems so abstract,
but then I meet lots of people
who become good friends and
nothing else. So I must be
looking for something!
Decision-making ability. (My pet peeve
is when I say "so where should
we go to eat?" and the
inevitable response is "Oh, I dunno.
Where do you want to go to
eat?") Ability to read a map.
Ability to drive a standard
transmission. Ability
to get on well with dogs and
children. (I have one and often
think about the other.)
Ability to leave in the middle of
a really awful movie. Ability
to laugh about pretty much
anything if you are well-fed
and reasonably warm.
Are We Compatible?
We could be compatible on so many levels. Take a few compatibility tests to see how we match!
