I'm not searching real hard, I guess I've had too many disappointments. I've been looking for that someone special that's honest, outgoing, and will make and keep a commitment. I'm fairly satisfied with just raising my beautiful son (who's 9 years old) but sometimes miss having someone to talk with, go out with, share more adult-oriented experiences with. Though I'm no Adonis, I feel I have a lot to offer someone, the most important being real commitment and being very family oriented. I've worked for the government for over 31 years and make a decent living. I enjoy my work but can't wait to come home in the evenings. I'm not a very active person but do enjoy going on short and long trips, enjoy the outdoors, keep our house reasonably neat and clean, am a fairly good cook, and keep myself in decent shape. I'm generally easy-going, outgoing, and relatively happy, but can get "grumpy" at times. I have fairly strong opinions about many things but do listen and consider other's points of view. I don't really have any vices that would make a person pause (except perhaps smoking). I'm honest almost to a fault, there's just no reason to be otherwise.

As I've said, I've worked for the same "company" for most of my career, have helped to raise several children (8), am raising a wonderful young man on my own, and have most of what I want. I've traveled all over the world (granted, it was mostly due to military travel but it has shown me many different cultures and points of view). I'm intelligent and can converse about almost any subject. I only have a few close friends, but have had them for well over 20 years. I'm a little "different" (don't ask me how, exactly, it's just that's what most people say without being able to specify. It's not usually meant in a negative way, thankfully).

I'm going to be quite picky, so I hope I don't offend anybody. My ideal soul-mate will be attractive, outgoing, honest, resilient, and intelligent. She will like children and animals, be a reasonably good cook, and is neat and clean. I prefer someone younger than myself because I am raising a young child and am in very good health for my age. She should have a good self-image and is relatively tolerant of other people's shortcomings (we all have them, don't we?). That doesn't mean being a push-over, just that I can't "fix" their problems and I've done the best I can in resolving mine. I'm looking for someone that considers family of primary importance and that relationships between a man and a woman are challenging, interesting and ever-lasting.
