Email TRUE about this story
Heavy breathing. Constant pumping. Dripping sweat. Wish you could do it every day with your partner?

Exercising – even just walking around the block – with your partner regularly over the summer will heat up your bedroom action.

Someone is waiting for you.

Don't believe it? Try it for a month and see for yourself! "Sexual function is affected by general health, and the more you can do to improve your health with physical activity, the better your sex life can be," said Dr. Cedric Bryant, chief exercise physiologist for the American Council on Exercise. "Exercise has psychological benefits as well, such as stress reduction, improved self-esteem, elevated mood and increased confidence that can also contribute to a more enriched sex life."

Do you need any more motivation to get up off that couch?

  • Make it last. Researchers, in a study published in the "Annals of Internal Medicine," discovered that exercise can add years to a man's sex life and lower the chances of impotence. They looked at men over the age of 50 and found those who were physically active reported better erections with a 30 percent lower risk of impotence than men who were inactive.
  • I'm too sexy. An article appearing in the "Electronic Journal of Human Sexuality" found that people believe they are more sexually desirable and experience greater levels of satisfaction because they exercise regularly.
  • Pump it up. Smoking and heavy alcohol use lowers good blood circulation, which is essential for sexual activity. A story in "Journal of the American Medical Association" shows that sexual potency increases with more exercise because it strengthens the cardiovascular system and improves circulation.

And you don't have to throw down big bucks for a membership at the local health club. All you need is your partner and your own two legs. So with summer months approaching and the daylight hours increasing, it means there are more opportunities to spend time with your significant other outside.

Go for a run together, teach him or her to spot you in the weight room, take a yoga class together, play some nighttime tennis, or help each other stretch during warm-up and cool-down.

What's the Forecast For Fitness?
The state of your fitness level could depend on the state you live in, study says.

If you're not athletically inclined and surfing the web or TV is your idea of activity, try a casual walk around the neighborhood after dinner. Hold hands, talk about your day, or week, and enjoy the evening sun. You'll feel refreshed and burn calories while you're at it!

The bottom line: Make it a date. It's not about no pain, no gain, but about spending time together, and doing something you both like to do. Make it a regular part of your week. Why not make Friday nights a fitness date, or a "let's go watch the sunset by the park" night, instead of the standard dinner and a movie.

In return, we promise you'll feel more awake, clear-headed, healthy and sexy.
