Clichés get a bad rap. We've heard them so many times that we tend to ignore them. But the reason they become overused is often because they are deeply rooted in truth.
Take the old saying, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression." It probably goes in one ear and out the other. But try to hear it again for the first time, especially when you’re choosing what to wear on a date, and you'll find its value.
At TRUE, we take our members’ safety seriously. We don’t want felons or marrieds on our website, period. If you are a criminal or married, DO NOT use our website. Consider this to be fair warning: Our Member Safety team vigorously pursues individuals who misrepresent themselves on our website. We report violators to appropriate federal, state and local authorities, including parole boards. We also actively pursue prosecution of these offenders in other ways. For example, we recently filed a civil lawsuit against a convicted felon and Florida registered sex offender for misrepresenting his felony status when attempting to access TRUE’s members. This felon was prevented from communicating with TRUE’s members due to TRUE’s proactive policy that requires criminal background screenings on its communicating members in the U. S. – the only one of its kind among major online dating sites. TRUE is the only online dating company that has pursued civil prosecution of an individual for misrepresenting himself online. TRUE’s first lawsuit was filed in November 2005 and was resolved by agreement, the terms of which required the sex offender to: (1) cancel his existing memberships and refrain from using TRUE.com and other companies in the online dating and relationship industry; (2) complete a community service obligation; and (3) pay damages to TRUE.
We can't guarantee that criminals can't get on our site, but we can guarantee that they'll be sorry they did. DISREGARD THIS WARNING AT YOUR PERIL.

Think about it: when you dress for a job interview, you choose clothes that say you're responsible, professional and serious about the job. Now think about the first date. What do you want to say about yourself? You want to choose clothes that reflect your personality, but you also want to be sure to send the message that you take your safety seriously.
Here are a few tips to make sure you say exactly what you mean:
Keep the cleavage under wraps.
Cleavage is one of the most sexually suggestive wardrobe choices a woman can make, and that makes it a bad choice for the first few dates. If you have beautiful skin and want to show it off, go for something sleeveless that highlights your shoulders and arms.
Be sure you're covered.
Wear underwear that gives you the right support. For the first few dates, bras that will keep you discreet in a cold restaurant are a do, thongs are a don't. Save the sexy stuff for later in the relationship.
Avoid fashion highs and lows.
Everyone has their own comfort level, but there are a few rules of thumb for high-rise skirts and low-rise pants: If you wear a skirt, make sure it's long enough that you can sit down without flashing anyone. On low-rise pants, make sure you can bend over without anyone mistaking you for a plumber.
Be comfortable.
You don't want to become unaware of your surroundings because your pointy pumps have you constantly thinking about your aching feet. And you want shoes you can walk in easily and comfortably.
The bottom line in choosing what to wear is to be yourself. Show that you’re comfortable in your own skin by being comfortable in your clothes. Express your personality, but be sure to make part of your message the fact that you care about your safety.
