On July 11, 2004, Kim said yes to Steve. They were married on Kim's 45th birthday, Nov. 27.

"I just took a chance and winked," said Kim, 44, of Lafayette, La., who has never been married and has no children.

Guts and a little bit of faith brought Steve and Kim together, despite the 1,000 miles separating them.

"I had been on a couple of other dating sites and while I had made friends, I was not having much luck meeting that special man ... I really wanted something more," Kim said. "I had decided I'm giving this one last shot and if nothing happens, I'm closing everything [online profiles] by the end of the week."

She did a final search on TRUE by compatibility and saw him: Steve, 38, of Marion, Ind.

"Good-looking? Yes! Compatible? Highly! Profile? Exactly what I was looking for!" Kim said. "I figured, what do I have to lose?"

With her wink sent off into cyberspace and on her way home from work — she was her local church's singles director — Kim prayed for someone special to be sent into her life. She was tired of being alone, despite her active social calendar.

In a twist of fate, coincidence or maybe just providence, Steve was fresh out of a divorce, and back out on the dating market.

While juggling the lives of his two kids, he was on several online dating sites, but had no luck.

"It's not all that it is cracked up to be," said Steve. "I was tired of it and was going to give up."

Steve had also prayed about his single status and even came to the point of accepting singleness for the rest of his life.

Then a day later, he got Kim's wink through TRUE. So he winked back. Then they emailed, then instant messaged and after a few days they starting calling each other on the phone.

The rest is history.

After three months of daily phone calls, on May 26th Steve flew out to Louisiana to meet Kim.

"I was nervous and a little excited," said Steve. "I determined I was not going to say the words "I love you' on the phone before I had met her."

"I didn't want it to be something flippant ... I wanted it to be something special — and I wanted to be able to look into her eyes when I said it."

Steve says that he didn't know if she was the "one" when they first met but it definitely confirmed his feelings for her.

"I'm amazed at how God has turned my mourning into dancing ... and He used TRUE to do it," Steve said.

"After we'd been talking for a few weeks, we got together and sent one another our compatibility test results and talked out each item and any differences we saw. It was great to finally meet someone that I clicked with on so many levels. Even the few differences we have are complimentary. His faults are my strengths and vice versa," Kim said.

"I just couldn't believe the similarities in what he liked and what I liked. It was almost too good to be true ... I keep telling him I have to keep looking at my engagement ring to realize that he is a real person."

Kim and Steve took a chance and right now they are feeling a bit like Alice — tumbling down the rabbit hole — discovering each other and a world they never thought existed.
